Too often, people who publicly identify themselves as "Christian" act with hate and intolerance in their hearts, which seems very un-Christian to me. You clearly have love in your heart. You seem to "get" that religion can have a tremendously positive effect on people - and that religion should not be used as a club with which to batter unbelievers.
